Justin Mulenga

Justin Mulenga (born February 27, 1955 in Rosa Mission (now Nondo Parish), Mungwi District , Zambia ; † March 20, 2020 in Lusaka , Zambia) was a Zambian Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Mpika .

Life

Justin Mulenga entered the Kasama Minor Seminary and then studied philosophy and theologian at Mpima Seminary. He also graduated from Evelyn Hone College in Lusaka in finance and accounting. He completed his theology studies at the Pontifical Beda College in Rome. He received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Kasama from Archbishop James Mwewa Spaita on July 18, 1993 in Rome .

In 1993/94 he was parish vicar in the parish of the Holy Family in Lwena. From 1994 to 1998 he was Treasurer General in the Archdiocese of Kasama. In 1998 he became parish vicar of Kapatu parish and 2000 pastor of St. John's Cathedral in Kasama. From 2005 to 2010 he was pastor of the parish of St. Francis in Mbal and at the same time episcopal vicar for religious and the deanery of Mbala. In 2009 he took over the leadership of the Diocesan Clergy Association of the Archdiocese of Kasama and in 2010 the pastoral coordination of the Archdiocese of Kasama.

On December 23, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Mpika. The episcopal ordination received his his predecessor Ignatius Chama , Archbishop of Kasama, on March 12 the following year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Chipata , George Cosmas Zumaire Lungu , and the Bishop of Mansa , Patrick Chisanga OFMConv .
