Kári Jóannesarson á Høvdanum (born April 6, 1990 ) is a Faroese swimmer , football goalkeeper and referee . Since 2018 he has been a FIFA referee alongside his compatriot Alex Troleis .

Career

As a player

Á Høvdanum was never active at a higher level. From 2008 to 2011 he played as a goalkeeper a total of 24 games for the second and third team of Víkingur Gøta in the second and third division.

As an arbitrator

Á Høvdanum was mainly used in the women's first division from 2009 . He led his first game on matchday four between KÍ Klaksvík and B68 Toftir / NSÍ Runavík . This season he was also used once in the Faroese men's third division. In 2011 there were both men's and women's cup games. In 2012 he headed the Faroese Supercup between B36 Tórshavn and EB / Streymur , and he also made his first appearance in the second division . In 2013, Á Høvdanum headed two games in the Nordic Championship, the encounter between the Finnish U-17 and England U-17 national teams was the men's first international appearance. In 2014 he came on the 24th match day in the encounter between KÍ Klaksvík and Skála ÍF to a use in the Effodeildin , in the following years he headed a double-digit number of games in this league. He was also used interregionally in the Swiss 2nd league in 2014 at the game between FC Montreux-Sports and FC Veyrier Sports. In November 2017, Á Høvdanum succeeded Petur Reinert as FIFA referee. His first appearance in the UEFA Europa League followed in 2018 when he led the prequalification match between UE Engordany and SS Folgore / Falciano . In the UEFA Youth League , Á Høvdanum also made his first appearance with the pairing between KR Reykjavík and IF Elfsborg . A year later, Á Høvdanum led the game between Andorra and Albania in qualifying for the U-21 European Championship in 2021 .

In total, by the end of 2019, Á Høvdanum headed 107 first division games (88 for men, 19 for women), 77 second division games, twelve games in the Faroese Cup (nine for men, three for women), two European cups, 1 U-21 and 1 eleven U-17 internationals. His home club as referee is Víkingur Gøta, just like as a player.

As a swimmer

Á Høvdanum was also active as a swimmer. Together with Pál Joensen , Pauli Øssurson Mohr and Andrass Thomsen he holds the Faroese record in the 4 × 100 meter medley with a time of 3: 49.65 minutes, which was set on July 1st, 2009 at the Iceland Games in Åland .
