Lookout tower and refuge

There was an observation tower on the mountain, which was built there in 1894 by the Rhön Club . The building fabric was neglected, so that it collapsed in the late 1940s. The refuge, which was also built by the Rhön Club in 1990, now stands on its foundation walls.

legend

And one of them went out into the forest and was called Schloth. And it was getting very dark when he reached the top of a mountain, which is what people say the king's castle is called. Suddenly there was a very miraculous appearance to him. A lovely maiden appeared between the dark trunks, surrounded by bright light. Little and tiny angels cheered and even happily handled pipes, trumpets and shawms. One of them played a hearty song on the accordion.

Overwhelmed, the mortal sank to his knees when the fair maiden began: "Here, on the spot where you kneel, once stood the proud castle of my ancestors, and a very happy life reigned in its wide rooms. Since then it has been in ruins Ashes have sunk, it has become quiet on the top of the mountain. But I want life and happiness to reign again in the area of my spell and for this purpose you should found an association "Königsburg" and the journeymen in it should be like cousins and among each other should shout and be happy in word and song, and the women are named the bases and should behave amicably and refresh you with sweet love. And as a pub prater I have chosen you the fat Weyerich, so live in the Hirschen in Neustadtles, and should he diligently provide plenty of caustic and cool drink. But you should be the superior cousin! " It roared in the air. The apparition was gone. And he went to the valley and did as he was told. At the place where the incident happened another day a horseshoe and spearheads were found. And you can still see them.
