The Klubi Futboll Elbasani is an Albanian football club in Elbasan , in the third division play.
history
The club was founded in 1923 under the name Klubi Futbollit Urani Elbasan , when the clubs Aferdita Elbasan and Perparimi Elbasan were merged. In 1930 Urani played in the newly formed first Albanian league . In 1931 the club was renamed SK Elbasani and in 1932 KS Skampa Elbasan , before KS Bashkimi was found as a new name in 1939 . In 1949 they played under Elbasani after the forced dissolution , but only one year later they were renamed Puna Elbasan . After the first promotion to the first division in 1958, it was decided to rename KS Labinoti Elbasan .
In 1984 the first championship was won. The following season they played in the European Cup for the first time, but were eliminated in the first round against Vardar Skopje . In 1991 the association got the old name KS Elbasani back; In 1997 it was changed back to the current name KF Elbasani .
After being promoted back to the first division in 2002, the club celebrated their second championship title in 2006 . In the Champions League qualification , however, the team was eliminated against Ekranas Panevėžys from Lithuania .
In 2009 they were bottom of the table and rose to the categoria e parë , but managed to get back up as second in the following year. The next descent followed in 2011 . This time Elbasani only managed to return to the top division after 3 years.
In 2014 the Ruzhdi Bizhuta Stadium was renovated and expanded so that international national team games can also be played there, and it was renamed the Elbasan Arena .
