The KTR Systems GmbH is a German manufacturer of drive components, brake systems, hydraulic components and cooling systems for the mechanical engineering and plant construction . The head office is in Rheine, Westphalia .

history

In 1886 the mill builder and technician Franz Tacke founded F. TACKE KG in Rheine, Westphalia. In addition to initial repair and maintenance tasks, the construction of transmission systems quickly became their main program. When the transmissions were later replaced by group and individual drives, the company qualified as a manufacturer of large gears. In the course of this, the company also dealt with the subject of power transmission from the drive via the gearbox to the machine, and in 1908 an elastic coupling was developed for general mechanical engineering. From then on, the company worked intensively on the development of coupling systems as connecting elements. After all, it was Albert Tacke, Franz Tacke's eldest son, who developed the curved tooth coupling in 1934.

With increasing automation and the growing need for new drive solutions, the company decided to offer the curved tooth coupling in an inexpensive version for a wide range of applications in the lower performance range. Technological advances in the global plastics sector made it possible for engineers to use the new material “ plastic ” for the first time . Two type series were specified for the new curved tooth coupling: Type A was made entirely of plastic, while Type B combined plastic and steel. Your name: BoWex.

Since the distribution channel for the small, maintenance-free and inexpensive generation of clutches had to be different from that of the all-steel curved tooth clutch - it was mainly produced in single and small series for a special clientele - Franz Tacke , grandson of the company founder of the same name, founded on September 30th 1959 the clutch technology GmbH with seat in Rheine.

A few years later, drives with more damping and torsional flexibility followed and developed the ROTEX, a simple and easy-to-assemble claw coupling made of three parts. The two hubs of the plug-in coupling are now made from various materials such as gray cast iron, spheroidal graphite cast iron, steel, aluminum sand cast, aluminum die cast or aluminum forged. The elastic ring gear made of polyurethane is used to transmit torque and compensate for shaft misalignments; it also has very good damping properties. The ring gear is manufactured in different Shore hardnesses, the following applies: soft ring gear = low torque and high damping; hard spider = high torque and little damping.

When hydraulics reached almost all areas of machine and plant construction in the late 1960s , KTR also began to manufacture accessories for the hydraulics industry. In 2005 the product portfolio was expanded to include hydraulic brake systems. The first cooling system for mobile and stationary hydraulics followed four years later. Electromechanical brake systems have been completing the product portfolio since 2013.

On January 1, 2017, KTR Kupplstechnik GmbH changed its company name to KTR Systems GmbH.
