Kaala-Gomen is a municipality in the northern province of New Caledonia . It is mostly located on the main island of Grande Terre , but there are also other small islands off the coast.
The highest point is in the Massif d'Ouazangou-Taom at 1092 m.
Nickel is mined at Tiébaghi ( 20 ° 28 ′ S , 164 ° 13 ′ E ) and there is an old chrome mine nearby that was in operation until 1962.
