Chirac I cabinet

The Chirac I cabinet , headed by Prime Minister Jacques Chirac , was appointed on May 28, 1974 by Valéry Giscard d'Estaing , who was elected President on May 19, 1974 . The governing coalition consisted of the liberal-conservative Fédération nationale des républicains et indépendants (FNRI) of President Giscard d'Estaing, the Gaullist Union des démocrates pour la République (UDR), to which Chirac belonged, and several smaller parties from the bourgeoisie spectrum. The government was in office until August 25, 1976.
