Cabinet Fillon I

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fillon I cabinet was the French government from May 18, 2007 to June 18, 2007 under Prime Minister François Fillon .

The government succeeded the de Villepin cabinet , which resigned on May 15, 2007, the day before President Jacques Chirac was handed over to Nicolas Sarkozy, as is customary with a change of presidency. The government acted as a transitional government until immediately after the 2007 French parliamentary elections . The day after the general election, on June 18, 2007, the Fillon I government resigned. François Fillon was reassigned to form the government and formed the Fillon II cabinet .

The appointment of members of the government who belonged to the political left caused a sensation: the two socialists Bernard Kouchner and Éric Besson (who therefore had to leave the party) as well as the non-party but close to the socialists Jean-Pierre Jouyet and Martin Hirsch , president of the French Emmaus Movement .
