Cresson's cabinet
The Cresson Cabinet was the French government from May 15, 1991 to April 2, 1992 under Prime Minister Édith Cresson . It replaced the Rocard II government , which had resigned on May 15, 1991. The list of ministers and state secretaries was published on May 17 and 18, 1991.
The government did not have a majority of its own after the Union du Center , which had supported the Rocard government, did not continue to do so. However, it included two members of the Mouvement des réformateurs as well as independent right-wingers, who were supposed to symbolize the openness to the right and the center.
On April 2, 1992, the very unpopular government resigned at the request of President François Mitterrand . Shortly before, the Parti socialiste had performed poorly in the regional and cantonal elections. The Bérégovoy government followed .
