The Kahl Group (also known as the Kahl Group in an international context ) is a group under the parent company Kahl Holding GmbH , Reinbek, with a total of seventeen companies. The group has specialized in process engineering and machine manufacturing.

history

The Amandus Kahl GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1876 in Stade. At that time the focus was on milling machines. Over the years an iron foundry and boiler shop were added. The main focus was initially on the facilities for sand-lime brick factories, corn mills and corn starch factories, as well as oil mills and edible oil refining plants.

In 1921 Otto Behrmann, at that time the owner of Amandus Kahl GmbH & Co. KG , joined the Berthold Wachtel mill construction company and became the authorized signatory there . After the death of the owner Berthold Wachtel, he acquired his company in the 1930s. He renamed the Berthold Wachtel mill building establishment to Amandus Kahl GmbH & Co. KG .

During the Second World War , the production facilities at that time in Hamburg's Eiffestrasse and in Hamburg- Rothenburgsort were completely destroyed and rebuilt between 1944 and 1948. From 1948 the Amandus Kahl company specialized in mechanical engineering and plant construction for the basic food industry as well as in the planning and construction of complete concentrate plants . In just a few years, Amandus Kahl finally succeeded in becoming a world-famous manufacturer of machines for the compound feed and sugar industries as well as other industries. Due to the constant expansion, the Hamburg operations were relocated to Reinbek , Schleswig-Holstein , in 1964 , and a modern machine factory was built in what was then the new industrial area .

In order to be closer to the market, a branch was established in Baarn, the Netherlands , in 1966 . The second was created in 1973 in Noyon near Paris , France . In 1980, Amandus Kahl Technical Office was founded in Cairo . Amandus Kahl Iberica SA in Madrid was added in 1997 . From 2003 to 2012, the Amandus Kahl USA Corporation in Alpharetta ( Georgia ), a representative office in Moscow and the establishment of Amandus Kahl Middle East in Amman followed . The youngest location has been in Kuala Lumpur since 2019 .

Kahl Holding GmbH

Externally, the companies also appear under the namesake of Amandus Kahl GmbH & Co. KG, founded in 1876 . Due to the majority participation of Amandus Kahl in Neuhaus Neotec Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH in 1990, the Kahl Group was created in the following year. In 1994 FH Schule Mühlenbau GmbH became a member, whereupon in 2010 a majority stake in Heinen Freezing ( Varel , Lower Saxony ) took place. Amandus Kahl last participated in Devex Verfahrenstechnik in Warendorf , North Rhine-Westphalia in 2016 . In addition, Neo Montec , based in Lubin , Poland , has been supporting the Kahl Group in the areas of commissioning and assembly since 2017 . Taking all companies into account, the Kahl Group employs more than 800 people and is a medium-sized company .

Business areas

The main focus of the group is the processing of food and the production of pellets of numerous materials. In addition, the Kahl Group manufactures machines for shredding, conditioning, extrusion , drying and cooling, for freezing, for compacting, expansion , roasting, cleaning and vacuuming of food, pet food and chemical-pharmaceutical products. Another sector is the production of recycling systems .

Each of the five companies belonging to the group has specialized in one sub-area.

  • The core business of Amandus Kahl GmbH & Co. KG consists of planning and manufacturing machines, systems and production facilities for processing, conditioning and pelleting. Customers from sectors such as the food industry are supplied. However, the machines are also used in the pet food sector , the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and in the disposal and recycling sector .
  • Neuhaus Neotec Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH has specialized in the construction of systems for processing coffee, cocoa and nuts. To this end, the company designs and builds so-called green coffee centers (see green coffee ), coffee roasting plants , silo systems and mechanical and pneumatic conveyor systems . Another mainstay is the area of particle technology with a focus on size reduction and fluidized bed technology. Systems produced by Neuhaus Neotec, such as fluidized bed dryers or coolers, agglomerators or spray granulators, are used here. In 2006 Neuhaus Neotec was the world's second largest manufacturer of large roasting machines for the coffee industry . The company founded by Heinrich Neuhaus in Delmenhorst in 1931 is considered the market leader in roasting machines. In 1990, Neuhaus Neotec was taken over by the Kal Group. In 2007 the company employed over 100 people. This year 80 percent of the coffee beans imported into Europe were roasted with roasting machines from this manufacturer. The company supplies well-known roasters such as Tchibo and Kraft Foods . Neuhaus Neotec had an export quota of 80 percent in 2015 and thus supplies many of the largest coffee companies worldwide.
  • The FH Schule Mühlenbau GmbH specializes in the construction of mills for processing grain, but also rice, pulses or oat flakes.
  • The Heinen Freezing GmbH & Co. KG develops and manufactures machines and systems for cooling, for freezing or fermentation of food using spiral systems such as Fließfroster- or Speicherfrostersysteme.
