In 1812 a large part of the village caught fire after a lightning strike in a barn. Afterwards, St. Florian was chosen as the patron saint of the place and a chapel was built in his honor. The school and church were in Mechnitz .
In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 151 eligible voters voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 32 for membership of Poland. Kamionka remained with the German Empire after the division of Upper Silesia . In 1922 a school was opened. In 1936 the place was renamed Steinbirn in the course of a wave of renaming during the Nazi era . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Cosel .
In 1945 the formerly German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed Kamionka in Poland . The district of Cosel was renamed Powiat Kozielski. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1975 the powiat Kozielski was dissolved. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski . On October 26, 2006, German was introduced as the second official language in the Reinschdorf community.
