Life

In 1970, Karl-Werner Schulte completed his business administration studies at the University of Münster and was awarded a doctorate there in 1974 with a thesis on "Optimal service life and optimal replacement time when maximizing withdrawal". rer. pole. PhD . Schulte is a student of Helmut Koch , the first student of Erich Gutenberg , the founder of business administration in Germany. In this tradition, Schulte initially conducted research in the areas of investment theory , in particular the development of the method of complete financial plans , and accounting, in particular external accounting. In 1986 he was appointed to the Chair of Investment and Finance by the European Business School (ebs). There he founded the Institute for Financial Management, the ebs Finance Academy and the ebs Management Academy and was their managing director and scientific director for many years.

In the early 1990s, Schulte carried out a fundamental reorientation in teaching and research by turning to what he called the field of real estate economics. In 1990 he founded the EBS Real Estate Academy together with his wife Gisela Schulte-Daxbök and was its scientific director for around 15 years. In 1994 he took over the endowed chair of real estate economics, which was financed by well-known companies in the real estate, finance and construction industries. Under his leadership, the ebs Department of Real Estate was established through the appointment of additional professors. Schulte was also co-initiator and scientific director of the Center for Urban and Real Estate Studies (CUREM), founded in Zurich in 2003. In 2006, four of six professorships and more than three quarters of the founders of the Department of Real Estate and the Real Estate Academy moved to the University of Regensburg , where they initiated the establishment of the IREBS International Real Estate Business School. Schulte was Managing Director and Scientific Director of the IREBS Real Estate Academy until he retired in 2011. As an honorary professor for real estate management, he is still active at the IREBS Institute for Real Estate Management. In his honor and on the occasion of his 70th birthday, the IREBS International Real Estate Business School organized a real estate symposium on the subject of "Real Estate Research & Practice - Past, Present and Future".
