Karl August von Blomberg

Karl August von Blomberg (* 1726 on Groß-Sernathen (Sergemieten) in Courland ; † 1793 ) was a Prussian colonel and most recently the commander of the infantry regiment "von Egloffstein" .

Life

His parents were the electoral Saxon captain Johann Ulrich von Blomberg († 1748) and NN von Heyking , a daughter of the district administrator von Heyking.

Military career

In 1743 Blomberg went into Prussian service and joined the "Rhodich" grenadier battalion. During the Second Silesian War he fought in Hohenfriedberg and Thrush . In 1746 he became an ensign and was promoted to captain until 1765 . In the Seven Years' War he fought in Roßbach , Leuthen , Hochkirch , Torgau and the sieges of Prague and Olomouc.

On October 16, 1772 Blomberg was promoted to major and commander of a grenadier battalion, which was composed of a company of the infantry regiment "von Lestwitz" and three companies of the infantry regiment "von Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym" . During the War of the Bavarian Succession he joined Prince Heinrich's army . In June 1781 he was transferred to the "von Pelkowsky" infantry regiment. There he was appointed lieutenant colonel in May 1782 and colonel and regimental commander on May 23, 1784 .

He had at least one son: the Prussian lieutenant colonel Julius von Blomberg (1769–1842), who, as an illegitimate son, received the nobility through legitimation in 1771. The future German General Field Marshal Werner von Blomberg was his descendant.
