Karl Ernst Otto von Pritzelwitz (born November 2, 1776 in Berlin ; † May 18, 1844 there ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He was the son of Adolph Heinrich von Pritzelwitz (1727–1787) and his wife Wilhelmine Charlotte Henriette, née von Moller († 1777). His father was a Prussian colonel and chief of the 4th artillery regiment.

Military career

On December 10, 1790, Pritzelwitz joined the infantry regiment "Prince Ferdinand" of the Prussian Army as a private corporal , became an ensign in mid-January 1793 and took part in the First Coalition War against revolutionary France in 1793/95 . He fought at the siege of Mainz , at the Kettricher court and in the battle of Pirmasens . As a second lieutenant , Pritzelwitz was promoted to an adjutant battalion in 1796 . During the Fourth Coalition War he took part in the Battle of Auerstedt and was initially made inactive after the defeat of the Prussians. After the Treaty of Tilsit Pritzelwitz received his farewell as a first lieutenant with pension and shortly thereafter also permission to carry the old army uniform.

On March 20, 1813 , he was first aggregated as a first lieutenant in the Brandenburg Hussar Regiment . In April of the same year Pritzelwitz joined the Mecklenburg-Strelitz Hussar Regiment as a staff officer and took part in the battles of the Katzbach , Leipzig and Ligny during the Wars of Liberation in 1813/15 . After the peace treaty Pritzelwitz was aggregated to the Guard Hussar Regiment on May 9, 1816 , promoted to Major on March 30, 1817 and transferred to the 2nd Guard Landwehr Cavalry Regiment on September 19, 1821 as a regular staff officer . In this regiment Pritzelwitz also worked for the name change to 2nd Guard Lancers (Landwehr) regiment until March 29, the 1,832th He was then commissioned to lead the 4th Uhlan Regiment in Treptow an der Rega . On December 24, 1832 he was appointed commander of this regiment and in this capacity was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 30, 1833 and two years later to colonel.
