Felix Karl Kunzmann (born May 24, 1842 in Sauersack ; † April 28, 1918 in Neudek ) was a Bohemian lace and white goods manufacturer, entrepreneur, kk district chairman, mayor and honorary citizen of Neudek.

Life

Karl Kunzmann was the fifth child of the lace and white goods manufacturer Joseph Kunzmann Jun. (1814–1873) and his wife Maria Anna Karolina nee. Kerl (1812–1853), the half-sister of the factory and landowner Felix Kerl from Platten , was born at number 24 in Sauersack. His paternal grandfather was the top manufacturer Joseph Kunzmann Sen. (1773–1826) from Sauersack. His maternal grandfather, the spoon manufacturer Franz Anton Kerl (1770–1849) made of slabs.

In 1846, Kunzmann's parents moved from Sauersack to Neudek. The reason was the decision to move to the headquarters of the lace factory Anton Gottschald & Comp. moved from Hirschenstand to Neudek. Since the death of Kunzmann's grandmother Ludmilla in 1843, his father was a partner or partner in the company and most recently worked as a white goods manufacturer for the branch in Vienna , which was founded due to increasing sales and developed into the center of the entire business.

On January 1, 1868, Kunzmann joined the company as a new partner, which also had the right to represent the company. While his younger brother Kamill Kunzmann (1848–1920) moved to Vienna, where he was responsible for the white and haberdashery trade as authorized signatory, Kunzmann managed the company headquarters in Neudek. Under him, the company was completely modernized. The factory in Neudek was expanded and a shopping center was set up in Frühbuss .

In 1893 Kunzmann was elected mayor of Neudek, which office he held for 25 years until his death. On February 22, 1906, the district council elected him to the district committee and on February 18, 1910, with the very highest confirmation of the emperor, as district chairman . Kunzmann was a co-founder of the Karlsbad – Johanngeorgenstadt railway company in 1895 and was a member of the board of directors.

In 1898 Kunzmann was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Franz-Joseph Order for his services . In 1916 his wife Marie Kunzmann was awarded the Decoration of Honor for Services to the Red Cross II Class (war decoration). Kunzmann died on April 28, 1918 in Neudek at the age of 75 of a kidney infection. After a requiem in the dean's church , he was buried on May 1, 1918 in the municipal cemetery. His tombstone is still there today.

The Neudek district representative gives the sad news that its longstanding, meritorious chairman, Mr. Karl Kunzmann, is a manufacturer

Knight of the Franz Josef order, mayor and honorary citizen of the city of Neudek, member of the kk district school council in Neudek, president of the district commission for child protection and youth welfare in Neudek, chairman of the board of the Neudeker Sparkasse, chairman and honorary member of many humanitarian associations and bodies, on April 28, 1918 fell asleep gently in the Lord at 2am after a life of work and success in his 76th year. What he created for his beloved homeland secures him a lasting memory of honor in the heart of the population. The earthly shell of the dear deceased was consecrated on Wednesday, May 1, 1918 at 10 a.m. in the mourning house No. 161 in Neudek, transferred to the dean's church, where a solemn requiem was celebrated and then at 1/212 a.m. on the local communal Cemeteries buried in the honor grave dedicated by the municipality of Neudek for eternal rest.
