Karl Ludwig Gottlob Löwenberger von Schönholz (* 1716 ; † November 6, 1789 in Schönfließ ) was a Prussian major general of the cavalry .

Life

origin

He comes from a family in Pomerania . His father was a pastor in Marwitz and Velten, his mother's name was Marie Sophie, geb. Kruger.

Career

He began his military career in 1744 as a flag boy in Dragoon Regiment No. 1 (Lottum). In the regiment, after having participated in the First Silesian War , in particular the battles at Hohenfriedeberg and Kesselsdorf , he advanced to ensign on July 10, 1745 and second lieutenant on July 1, 1749 . During the Seven Years' War he was present at the battles near Prague , Kolin , Leuthen , Zorndorf and Torgau . For his service in front of Kolin, already with the rank of captain , he received the order Pour le Mérite on November 10, 1760 . He climbed until he 1771 Major was 1782 Lieutenant Colonel and on September 27, 1784 , Colonel . Due to his age, he was retired as major general in 1788.

family

He married Anna Blessing († 1800) with one son Ludwig (* 1769), who in 1789 took his leave as ensign in Dragoon Regiment No. 3 and had a daughter.
