Karl Magnus Pilar from Pilchau
Karl Magnus Baron Pilar von Pilchau ( Russian Карл Фёдорович Пилар фон Пильхау , born May 22, 1791 , † July 27, 1861 in Geneva ) was a German-Baltic nobleman . He was in the service of the Imperial Russian Army and became Lieutenant General .
career
On December 12, 1810, he began his military career in the imperial cavalry guard regiment. From 1812 he was a participant in the Battle of Borodino and the Battle of Kulm , he fought in Prussia and France . In 1819 he was promoted to captain and in 1822 to colonel . On 24 May 1824 he took over the command over the Novgorod Cuirassier - Regiment . 1830, now with the rank of major general , he commanded a Kürassier - Brigade and fought in 1831 in the November Uprising (1830-31) in Poland . From 1842 he commanded the 1st Lancers - Division and was promoted to lieutenant general . The last command he received was the Reserve Cavalry Corps until 1857 . During a convalescent stay in Geneva, he died there on July 27, 1861.
Origin and family
Karl Magnus Pilar von Pilchau came from the Baltic-German noble family Pilar von Pilchau, which had been resident since 1656 . His parents were the Baltic district administrator Wilhelm Friedrich Pilar von Pilchau (1761-1819) and Wilhelmine Staël von Holstein (1771-1849). His brother was Lieutenant General Gustav Friedrich Pilar von Pilchau (1793-1911). Karl Magnus was married to Katharina Nikolajewna Princess Koudaschew (1811–1872). Her descendants were:
