Coat of arms and motto

Coat of arms of the auxiliary bishop Karl Reger

The escutcheon contains a black cross on a gold background - the diocese coat of arms of Aachen - divided in the middle shield, above a black cross on a gold background, repeating the diocese coat of arms, below a silver plow on a green background. This stands as a symbol of the priestly work to prepare the soil of God, but at the same time as an indication of the origin of the auxiliary bishop from rural parents. The coat of arms is accompanied by a golden cross and the green pontifical hat ( Galero ) with six green tassels ( fiocchi ) each as heraldic bishop's insignia.

Reger's motto is: Deus Caritas est (“God is love”) and comes from 1. John ( 1 John 4.8  EU ).
