Karl Wilhelm Freiherr Marschall von Bieberstein (born December 21, 1763 in Stuttgart , † August 11, 1817 in Karlsruhe ) from the Marschall von Bieberstein family was Minister of the Interior of Baden .

Karl Wilhelm Marschall von Bieberstein was a family member of the old Meissen noble family Marschall von Bieberstein . His parents were the Württemberg colonel and later Oettingen-Wallerstein court marshal Conrad Otto Christoph Freiherr Marschall von Bieberstein (1726–1796) and his wife Johanna Theresia Henriette nee. von Wolf (1738–1783). Like his two brothers Ernst Franz Ludwig and Friedrich August , Karl Wilhelm Marschall von Bieberstein was a graduate of the Hohen Karlsschule in Stuttgart. There he himself lectured on Roman law.

Life

Marshal von Bieberstein became court and government advisor to Margrave Karl Friedrich von Baden in Karlsruhe in 1792 . In 1800 he became vice-president and in 1803 president of the Hofratskollegium. In 1806, when Baden was elevated to the Grand Duchy , he became a privy councilor and head of the interior minister in the newly formed Baden state government ; in 1808, on French instigation, he was appointed court judge to the Mannheim court , in 1809 he was state minister alongside Reizenstein and in 1810 again took over the ministry of the Inside. Marschall von Bieberstein drove the administrative organization of the rapidly enlarged Grand Duchy, which was made up of various areas. In 1811 he became envoy to the King of Württemberg in Stuttgart, in 1813 he was again briefly Minister of the Interior of Baden and in 1814 Baden plenipotentiary at the Congress of Vienna , where he successfully defended Baden's integrity against Bavaria and where he was again very busy with constitutional issues. He enforced the announcement of a state constitution for the Grand Duke, which was passed as the Baden constitution after a few changes in 1818. In 1815, Marschall von Bieberstein went to Stuttgart as envoy from Baden, but was called back to Karlsruhe to take over the ministry in 1817, the year he died.

Karl Wilhelm Marschall von Bieberstein was married to Wilhelmine von Reck (1782-1856). The couple had three sons and a daughter. The sons and grandchildren also held ministerial posts in the civil service of the Grand Duchy of Baden and the German Empire :
