Karl Wilhelm von Kottwitz

Karl Wilhelm von Kottwitz (* 1718 in Niederlausitz ; † November 4, 1788 in Magdeburg ) was a Prussian colonel .

Life

Kottwitz joined the Prussian Army's 25th Infantry Regiment in 1738 and was promoted to staff captain in June 1756 . After the battle of Kolin , he became company commander there in 1757 . He rose further and was promoted to major in December 1760 , in May 1769 to lieutenant colonel and finally to colonel on June 9, 1772. On January 8, 1774 he became a knight of the order Pour le Mérite . In April 1780. Kotwitz received his farewell as commander of the regiment, but took over on April 29 of the year as a regimental commander , the Magdeburg Country Regiment .

Kottwitz was married to Juliane Louise von Löben , who survived him as a widow.
