Karl Ludwig Ulrich Heinrich Friedrich Ehrenreich von Brockhusen (born July 26, 1770 in Göhren , † February 26, 1852 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the fortress Weichselmünde and Neufahrwasser .

Life

His parents were the heir to Göhren and Lüschow ( Wollin ) Adam Christoph von Brockhusen (* February 23, 1718 - November 20, 1791) and his wife Johanna Luise Friederikem, née von Behm († February 9, 1793). Major General Wilhelm von Brockhausen (1773-1858) was his brother.

Career

Brockhusen became a Junker in the "von Lengefeld" infantry regiment of the Prussian Army on September 17, 1783 . There he was promoted to second lieutenant until August 1788 . As such he took part in 1794 during the campaign in Poland in the fighting near Czeloczin and the siege of Warsaw . On February 15, 1799 he was then prime lieutenant . In 1804 Brockhusen came to the grenadier battalion "von Brauchitsch", which was formed from the grenadier companies of the regiments "von Reinhart" and "de Courbière" . On December 17, 1805 he was promoted to staff captain and was given leave to visit the Napoleonic battlefields in Switzerland and Italy . On October 31, 1806 he was then adjutant general to General von Reinhardt . During the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the defense of Glogau and was wounded twice in the defense of Danzig . For the battle near Ohra he was awarded the Order of St. Anne II Class. On February 6, 1807 he came to the 1st Pomeranian Reserve Battalion and retired on January 22, 1807 with half pay . At the beginning of the Wars of Liberation Brockhusen was employed on August 1, 1813 with the 4th East Prussian Landwehr Infantry Regiment. After the siege he was appointed commander of Weichselmünde and Neufahrwasser on February 10, 1814. In this position he rose to colonel by the end of March 1821 and received the Order of St. Vladimir IV class on May 17, 1821 . In the spring of 1829 it came to great floods near Danzig and Weichselmünde. He proved himself particularly well and was awarded the Red Eagle Order III on November 22, 1829 . Class excellent. On March 30, 1834, he received his farewell as a major general with a pension of 1750 thalers. He died on February 26, 1852 in Königsberg.

During his time as commandant of Weichselmünde, he wrote a two-volume work on the history of the fortress that appeared in 1826. For this he received the Great Gold Medal for Science from the king.

He was the heir to Lüskow and Engelswalde in the Braunsberg district .

Brockhusen married on April 9, 1798 in Mairenburg Sophiea Karoline Klugmann (* July 13, 1778, † October 13, 1804), a daughter of the businessman Klugmann. The couple had the following children:
