Karl von Plehwe (General)

Karl Albrecht Theobald Joachim von Plehwe (born March 7, 1825 in Berlin , † October 18, 1886 in Baden-Baden ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 8th Infantry Brigade .

Life

Karl was a son of the Prussian Lieutenant General Bernhard von Plehwe (1792-1858) and his wife Georgine, née Krüger (1791-1866).

Career

After visiting the cadet houses in Potsdam and Berlin , Plehwe was aggregated on August 9, 1842 as a second lieutenant with a patent from September 16, 1842 in the 1st Guard Regiment on foot in the Prussian Army . It was placed in the budget on November 14, 1844, and then in the budget on April 19, 1846. From January 1 to December 31, 1849 he was in command of the 2nd Battalion in the 2nd Guards Landwehr Regiment. During this time Plehwe took part in the battles near Wiesenthal, Neudorf, Durlach, Kuppenheim and Kirchheimbolanden during the suppression of the Baden Revolution and received the Red Eagle Order IV class with swords on June 21, 1849 .

After his return to the regiment, he was commanded from April 1 to September 30, 1850 as a teacher at the Guard Division School in Potsdam. From October 1, 1851 to September 30, 1856 he was assigned to the school department and in the meantime he rose to the position of prime lieutenant . From the end of January 1857 to the end of May 1859, Plehwe was again assigned to the school department as a company commander and in this capacity became captain in mid-August 1857 . On May 23, 1859 he was appointed company commander in the 1st Guards Regiment on foot. From June 25 to July 31, 1859 he was a company commander in the mobile III. Battalion of the 1st Guards Landwehr Regiment commanded to Graudenz . On February 23, 1861 Plehwe was transferred as a company commander in the 3rd Guards Regiment on foot , which he led in the war against Denmark in 1864 near Eritsoe and Fredericia . Promoted to major on December 17, 1864 , he was commanded from June 8 to June 21, 1865 to lead the 2nd Battalion in the 1st Guards Landwehr Regiment in Stettin . On April 3, 1866, he was appointed commander of the 1st Battalion in the 3rd Guards Regiment on Foot.

During the German War of 1866 he fought at Thrush , Königinhof and Königgrätz . After the war he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1868 . During the mobilization for the Franco-Prussian War he was appointed commander of the 1st Guards Landwehr Regiment on July 18, 1870 and knight of the Order of St. John on July 27, 1870 . He took part in the sieges of Strasbourg and Paris and the skirmishes at Bougival and Droue. Awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class, he was promoted to colonel on January 18, 1871.

After the war, Plehwe was transferred to the army officers on March 25, 1871 and appointed commander of the 2nd Hanoverian Infantry Regiment No. 77 on April 15, 1871 . On September 12, 1873 he received the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class with swords. In position à la suite of his regiment, Plehwe was promoted to commander of the 8th Infantry Brigade in Bromberg on April 13, 1875, and to major general on April 18, 1875. In approval of his resignation request, he was put up for disposal on August 10, 1876 with a pension .

He died on October 18, 1886 in Baden-Baden.

Plehwe married Helene von Pusch (1838–1868) on June 6, 1856 in Potsdam. After her death, he married Alma von Borcke (1847–1926), widowed von Delitz, on September 16, 1872 . The following children emerged from the marriages:
