Joseph Emanuel Karl Graf von Strachwitz (born August 20, 1809 in Sakrau , † September 25, 1872 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Karl was a son of the Lord on Sakrau Franz Graf von Strachwitz (1782-1845) and his wife Karoline, née Hentschel von Gilgenheimb (1790-1826). His sister Anna Maria (* 1826) was married to the Prussian Lieutenant General Karl von Kraewel .

Military career

Strachwitz attended high school in Ratibor and joined the 23rd Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a musketeer on August 16, 1826 . He was promoted to secondary lieutenant by mid-September 1830 , from March 1, 1843 to December 31, 1846 as a company commander in the III. Battalion of the 23rd Landwehr Regiment in Ratibor commanded and rose in the meantime to Prime Lieutenant . After his return he was promoted to captain on July 9, 1850 and appointed company commander. On May 8, 1855, Strachwitz was commanded to lead the sea ​​battalion under position à la suite . He left the army on December 6, 1855 and joined the Navy , where he was appointed major and commander of the naval battalion on December 16, 1855. On October 18, 1861 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel . He returned to the army on April 29, 1862 and became commander of the 69th Infantry Regiment. There he received his promotion to colonel on March 1, 1863 and on the occasion of the festival he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III in January 1864 . Excellent with a bow. On 19 May 1866 he was with pension for disposition made, and he was given permission to wear the uniform of the 69th Infantry Regiment. On January 3, 1867 he was given the character of major general.

He died on September 25, 1872 in Frankfurt am Main.

Strachwitz married on September 28, 1841 in Neisse Rosamunde von Pfuel (1812-1889), a daughter of General Friedrich Heinrich Ludwig von Pfuel . The couple had several children:
