Karl Friedrich Wilhelm von Walther (born March 3, 1786 in Angerburg , † February 26, 1873 in Trier ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Karl was a son of the Prussian captain Heinrich von Walther (1730-1800) and his wife Charlotte Sophie, nee Wahn (* 1751).

Military career

After visiting the educational institution of the Reformed Preacher Groß in Breslau , Walther joined the Prussian Army's fusilier battalion "von Pelet" on July 17, 1801 as a corporal . He was promoted to Second Lieutenant by September 1805 and was wounded in the Battle of Jena during the Fourth Coalition War . On the retreat he came to Danzig and took part in the defense of the city, as well as the skirmishes at Praust and Dirschau . After the Peace of Tilsit , Walther joined the 1st Silesian Infantry Regiment on January 1, 1808 and was promoted to Prime Lieutenant in mid-February 1809 . During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the battle of Dresden and the siege of Erfurt .

After the war he became captain and company commander on April 5, 1816 . With a patent from April 6, 1830, Walther advanced to Major and Commander of the 2nd Battalion in the 23rd Landwehr Regiment in Groß Strehlitz on March 30, 1830 . In this position promoted to lieutenant colonel in mid-September 1840 , he was appointed commander of the 2nd battalion in the 23rd Infantry Regiment in Neisse on March 28, 1841 . On April 7, 1842, he was initially assigned to lead the 30th Infantry Regiment in Trier and on September 12, 1842, Walther was appointed regimental commander. On March 22, 1843 he became a colonel and in 1847 with the Order of the Red Eagle III. Excellent with a bow. Under awarding of the character as a major general Walther was on March 6, 1848 Board for disposition made. On April 13, 1852, he received his parting with the previous board. He died on February 26, 1873 in Trier.

Walther married on April 9, 1817 in Bar-le-Duc Anna Brodurier (1799–1864), daughter of the French Rittmeister Peter Brodurier. The marriage resulted in two sons and two daughters.
