Karolina Gernbauer

Karolina Gernbauer (born September 23, 1962 in Wildthurn / Landau adIsar ) is a lawyer and Bavarian administrative officer and has been Head of the Bavarian State Chancellery since 2010 .

Live and act

Karolina Gernbauer studied law at the University of Passau until 1986 and passed the second state examination in 1989 . After a brief academic career at the University of Passau, she was a probationary judge at the Munich District Court I from June 1990 and was appointed as a public prosecutor in 1992 .

In 1993 she moved to the Bavarian State Chancellery . From 1993 she worked there in the “Federal Council Affairs” department, from 1994 to 1998 as its head. From 1999 to 2005 she was the government director's personal advisor to Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber . From September 1, 2005 to September 30, 2006 , she headed the “Policy Guidelines” department.

From October to December 2006 she was Head of the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the European Union in Brussels , but from January 15, 2007 she was appointed ministerial director to the Bavarian State Ministry for Environment and Health in order to reorganize the Ministry after the rotten meat scandal . In 2010, Prime Minister Horst Seehofer appointed her as the first woman to head the Bavarian State Chancellery. In 2014 she was named "Ambassador of Lower Bavaria" by the regional marketing association Niederbayern-Forum . As head of office, she has held the rank of State Councilor since 2015 , making her Bavaria's highest civil servant. Even after the change of office to Prime Minister Markus Söder , she remained head of the Bavarian State Chancellery.

Karolina Gernbauer is married and lives in the Bavarian Oberland .
