Kasim Jonathan Edebali (born August 17, 1989 in Hamburg ) is a German American football player on the position of defensive end . He is currently a free agent .

youth

Edebali was the son of a Turkish-German woman and one stationed in Germany African-American soldiers in Hamburg and grew up in osdorf on. He began his sporting career with the Hamburg Huskies . In 2007, at the age of 18, he went to the United States , even though he spoke only rudimentary English . There he attended the Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire for two years and played for the local football team.

Career

college

In 2009 he enrolled at Boston College where he graduated with a degree in communications . He came there in 49 games for the Eagles on 166 tackles and eleven sacks .

NFL

New Orleans Saints

Edebali made it to the New Orleans Saints roster for the 2014 season despite not being selected in the 2014 NFL Draft . With Sebastian Vollmer , Markus Kuhn and Björn Werner he was the fourth German to be under contract in the NFL this season. Edebali made his first tackles in the NFL in the game against the Dallas Cowboys . He got his first sacks against the Green Bay Packers .

Short stops in Denver and Detroit

After his contract with the Saints expired, Edebali signed with the Denver Broncos ahead of the 2017 season . He was released on November 14, 2017 and signed off the waiver list by the Detroit Lions the following day. He was also released there after only a month.

Los Angeles Rams

In December, Edebali was signed by the Los Angeles Rams. After just seven days, Edebali was removed from the grid on December 27th.

Return to the Saints

Just a day later, the New Orleans Saints signed him again after linebacker Hau'oli Kikaha was injured. Edebali was not used in any game.

Chicago Bears

On June 7, 2018, he was signed by the Chicago Bears . As part of the final squad reduction to 53 players before the start of the 2018 regular season , he was dismissed.

Cincinnati Bengals

On November 20, 2018, the Cincinnati Bengals signed Edebali.

Philadelphia Eagles

On August 6, 2019, he signed a new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles . As part of the final squad reduction to 53 players before the start of the 2019 regular season , he was dismissed.

Oakland Raiders

On October 22, 2019, he was signed by the Oakland Raiders . He was released on November 1, 2019.
