Kaspar Heinrich von Rosenkampff

Kaspar Heinrich von Rosenkampff (* 1734 ; † May 17, 1790 ) was a German-Baltic nobleman and a Swedish baron . He was the Estonian district administrator and deputy country marshal and represented the Livonian knighthood as a deputy at the Russian court.

Life

Kaspar Heinrich v. R. studied from 1753 at the University of Königsberg law . From 1763 to 1766 he was an assessor at the Dorpat district court . In 1772 he was elected district deputy in the Dorpat district. From 1774 to 1783 he was district administrator in Livonia and from 1775 to 1777 deputy district marshal in Livonia. On March 5, 1774, the state parliament awarded the indigenous population. As a delegate of the Livonian knighthood he was sent to Saint Petersburg from 1779 to 1780 and campaigned for the allodification of the fiefdoms at the court of the tsars . During this period the so-called "Rosenkampff Affair" occurred, which led to his removal. His possessions were: Kersel , Hermannsberg (Estl., Since 1760), Ludenhof u. Wissust (Livl., Since 1765).

Rosenkampff affair

Kaspar Heinrich von Rosenkampff, together with other emissaries of the Livonian knighthood, represented Livonian concerns in Saint Petersburg in 1779. As a Livonian district administrator, Rosenkampff, with whom Friedrich Konrad Gadebusch had taught as a private tutor in the 1750s, was discredited by the Empress Catherine II in 1779 due to debts and embezzlement in Saint Petersburg , and she asked the Governor of Livonia Georg Browne to do this To resolve the matter. Dorpat Friedrich Konrad Gadebusch, then Mayor of Justice, was not only a friend of Rosenkampff, but he also represented him as his legal advisor. He prepared expert opinions , drafts, speeches and statements for him , including reports for the Tsarina . Katharina said about Rosenkampff: "This person has tormented me for many months with many absurd projects", by which she may also have meant the projects that came from Gadebusch. As a result of this affair, Rosenkampff was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Livonian court in 1783 for falsifying documents and misappropriating funds. The Livonian district court relieved him of all his offices and ran him out of Adelsmatrikel the Livonian knights .

Kaspar Heinrich von Rosenkampff came from the Swedish branch of the Rosenkampff family of the German-Baltic noble family Rehekampff . His father was the assessor Reinhold Johann von Rosenkampff (* around 1705, † around 1784), Herr auf Kersel, Jegel, Arras and Kudding, who was married to Juliana Charlotta von Anrep . Kaspar Heinrich married Juliana Katharina von Hagemeister in 1758 (born September 10, 1742, † July 19, 1805 in Kachkowa ( Räpina parish )), their descendants were:
