Kathleen Weiß (born February 2, 1984 in Schwerin ) is a former German national volleyball player .

Career

Kathleen Weiß played for Schweriner SC from 1993 to 2008 . From 2000 to 2003 she also played in the 2nd Bundesliga at 1. VC Parchim . During this time she was also twice German A youth champion. With the club in her hometown she was German champion four times (2000 to 2002 and 2006). In 2001, 2006 and 2007 she also won the DVV Cup .

In September 2008 she moved to the Netherlands. Here she was able to win three national titles in her first year as a full professional with her club Dela Martinus Amstelveen under coach Avital Selinger : national champion, cup winner and winner of the Supercup.

The setter, who already gained a lot of experience in the youth selection, has been part of the senior national team since 2003 . After winning the double with the club, she took part in the 2006 World Cup in Japan, where the German team only finished eleventh. In 2007 she took part with the national team at the European Championships in Luxembourg / Belgium. Here the German team took sixth place.

From 2004 to summer 2008 she was a member of the Bundeswehr sports promotion company in Rostock . At the military World Cup in Warendorf in 2008, she and her team were runner-up in the world championship. In September 2008 she was voted best setter in the European Grand Prix qualification.

In summer 2009 she took third place with the national team at the Grand Prix Final in Tokyo and in September fourth at the European Championships in Poland. She then moved to the Italian 1st division to Despar Sirio Perugia . She finished third in the 2009 volleyball player of the year in Germany, and after the season she was elected to the all-star team of the Italian league.

At the European Grand Prix qualification 2010 in Cagliari (ITA), Kathleen Weiß took first place with the national team and was voted best player in the serve category. At the World Cup in Japan , she finished seventh. She then moved to the Azerbaijani club Igtisadchi Baku . In the 2011/12 season she played for the Italian first division club Spes Conegliano . With the national team she became vice European champion in October 2011 . In January 2012, Kathleen Weiss moved to the Italian league competitor Chieri Volley Club and in July 2012 to Foppapedretti Bergamo . In 2013, she took first place with the national team in the Europa League and was again vice European champion . In 2014, White moved to VK Prostějov , with whom she won the Czech championship and cup double in 2015 and 2016. In the 2016/17 season, White played in the Polish league for MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza . Then she returned to Prostějov and won the national double again. In 2018, the setter was signed by Maritza Plovdiv in Bulgaria . For the 2019/20 season, White received a contract with German champions Allianz MTV Stuttgart . Due to a professionally attractive offer with training with the police in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania shortly before the start of the season, however, she decided at short notice to end her professional sporting career and asked MTV to terminate her contract.

Parallel to her professional career, Kathleen Weiß made her first appearance in the youngest national senior league in 2018 and won the German championship with SV "Progress" Neustadt-Glewe. Since 2019 she has played for VSV Havel Oranienburg in the third division .
