The Catholic University of Applied Sciences Apor Vilmos (Hungarian Apor Vilmos Katolikos Föiskola , AVKF for short ) is a non-governmental university with its headquarters in Vác , Hungary .

The forerunner of the college was a secondary school for girls, which was founded in 1905 by sisters of the religious order of the Sisters of Mercy , supplemented in 1929 by a seminar for teachers. The university was re-established in 1977 in Zsámbék, initially as a branch of the teachers ' college in Esztergom, and continued as an independent Zsámbék teachers' college from 1981. In 1993 the seminar was renamed the Zsámbék Catholic Teachers' Seminar . In 2000, the school gave the name to Bishop Vilmos Apor, who had died of martyrdom . Since 2004 the university has been located in the former seminary in Vác , right next to the Vác Cathedral . The institution of the university is the Roman Catholic Church , represented by the diocese of Vác .
The university covers the entire spectrum of teacher training:
- Bachelor / master programs in education (specialization in family education, specialization in education)
- Pedagogical training for infants, kindergarten and early school ages

There is a university network with numerous universities through the Erasmus program . The study programs are not open to non-Catholic or atheist students.
Józsefné Libor has been the rector since August 1, 2017 .
