Roman Catholic Church in Afghanistan

The Roman Catholic Church in Afghanistan only includes foreigners in Afghanistan. There is no Christian minority among the Afghan population.

The number of its members is not known. It was estimated at 250 at the end of 2007. The faithful are cared for by a priest of the Barnabite Order , who has also been the superior of the Mission sui juris Afghanistan since May 16, 2002 , making the Catholics of Afghanistan more or less an independent diocese without a bishop . The missionary superior of the 652,000 km² area worked in 2004 with 3 nuns .

Under the rule of the Taliban , non- Islamic religions and their practice were prohibited in Afghanistan . The current events and the political transformation of the country also affect the Catholic Church .
