Keenan Cahill (born March 19, 1995 in Elmhurst, Illinois ), is an American web video producer , who was best known for his self-made, viral video clips on YouTube . These lipdub videos show him moving his lips to titles by Katy Perry , Willow Smith or Usher and mimicking dance moves sparingly.
Cahill has on YouTube its own channel called Keenan Cahill , formerly Alias BeenerKeeKee19952 . In August 2013 it had around 650,000 subscribers with over 450 million views.
Career
Cahill released his first YouTube video on October 25, 2009 for When You Look Me In the Eyes by the Jonas Brothers .
His breakthrough came with his video uploaded on August 28, 2010 for the song Teenage Dream by Katy Perry . Perry tweeted " I heart you @KeenanCahill " a few days after it was published , triggering a rush. Within a week, the views rose from 600,000 to 3 million. By 2013 the clip had been viewed over 55 million times.
In the meantime he is known beyond the internet through international press reports. He has appeared on various talk shows, shot a commercial with Jennifer Aniston and has made Youtube videos with 50 Cent , David Guetta , Arash, DJ Pauly D, Cody Ross , Katy Perry , Jason Derulo , Nick Cannon and Brian Wilson (from the San Francisco Giants ). On November 2, 2011, Keenan made a guest appearance on America's Next Top Model , hosted by Tyra Banks .
Private life
Keenan Cahill suffers from Maroteaux-Lamy Syndrome , a condition that is associated with severe skeletal malformation, corneal opacity, and short stature that affects fewer than 1,100 people worldwide. Cahill was only 1.26 m tall at the age of 16.
After diagnosing the disease at the age of one year, Cahill had a bone marrow transplant in 1997 to slow the progression of the disease. After that, he had several operations, including a procedure to reduce the pressure inside the skull. According to the company, the cost of the necessary enzyme treatment is $ 300,000 per year.
