Kehn (regionally also called the Kehn ) is a small rural district of the town of Tönisvorst, which belongs to the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Viersen .

history

Document mentions of the Honschaft Kehn go back to the year 1492. Kehn was an independent Dingstuhl , which until the end of the 18th century belonged to the Vorst parish in the district of Liedberg in the Electorate of Cologne . After the Left Bank of the Rhine was taken by French revolutionary troops (1794), from 1798 to 1814 Kehn belonged to the canton Neersen in the Arrondissement of Krefeld , which was part of the Roerdépartement . When Mairies was later set up , Kehn was assigned to Mairie Neersen . Due to the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna (1815), significant parts of the Rhineland , including Kehn, were assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia . Under the Prussian administration, Kehn first belonged to the Neersen mayor in the Krefeld district ( Düsseldorf district ) and in 1819 to the Vorst mayor in the Kempen district (until 1822 Cleve ). Kehn, now called the village, was part of the rural community of Vorst and had 467 inhabitants in 1832. It stayed that way until December 31, 1969; On January 1, 1970, the former municipality of Vorst, including von Kehn, was in turn merged into the then newly formed Tönisvorst .

As part of this territorial reform, some rural outlying areas directly adjacent to Kehn were also separated from the then neighboring municipality of Anrath and also added to the newly formed Tönisvorst (the areas of the Darderhöfe, which are northwest of the Duisburg – Mönchengladbach railway line and the Hochbend area ).

traffic

Road traffic

The main traffic axis of Kehn is the district road K13 which connects the Tönisvorst district Vorst with Krefeld-Forstwald . At its northwestern end, the K13 is linked to the L475, which leads from Schwalmtal via Süchteln , Vorst and St. Tönis to Krefeld , and at the eastern end of the Kehner Heide it crosses the L379 (" Düsseldorfer Straße "), which runs from Kempen via St .Tönis and Münchheide leads to Willich .

Rail transport

If you add the areas of Hochbend and Darderhöfe that were incorporated into Tönisvorst as a result of the municipal reorganization in 1970, the Kehn now extends to the Duisburg-Mönchengladbach railway line . The regional stop " Anrath " is located in the immediate vicinity of the Darderhöfe .

Bus transport

As a district of Tönisvorst, Kehn is part of the Rhein-Ruhr transport association . On the northwestern edge of Kehn, at the confluence of the K13 on the L475, there is a stop called " Kehn ", which is served by two SWK bus lines:

  • Line 062  :
Comes from Vinkrath via Grefrath , Mülhausen , Oedt and Vorst to Kehn and continues towards St. Tönis . There is a connection to the Krefeld tram line 041 ( St. Tönis - Fischeln ). Then line 062 continues to Krefeld-Forstwald
  • Line 064  :
Comes from Brüggen-Bracht via Nettetal - Lobberich , Süchteln and Vorst to Kehn and continues towards St. Tönis . There is also a connection to the Krefeld tram line 041 ( St. Tönis - Fischeln ). Unlike line 062, line 064 ends at Wilhelmplatz in St. Tönis at the tram terminus.
