Keio Medical Science Prize

The Keio Medical Science Prize ( English ; Japanese 慶 應 医学 賞 , Keiō Igakushō ) is a science award for medical research and life sciences awarded by Keiō University in Tokyo . The award goes back to a foundation by the Japanese doctor Mitsunada Sakaguchi . The winners receive a certificate of honor, a medal and a sum of money (2012: 10 million yen , equivalent to approx. 75,000 euros). On the occasion of the award ceremony, the winners each hold a keynote speech.

Nine of the 45 winners later also received a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine or in Chemistry (as of July 2020).
