Kelsey Tessier (born January 16, 1990 in Fredericton , New Brunswick ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Västerås IK in Allsvenskan since 2019 .

Career

Tessier was drafted in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche in the fourth round as 110th. Before Tessier switched to the pros, he played two more years in the QMJHL for the Quebec Remparts and Moncton Wildcats .

Tessier did not get a contract with the Avalanche. The New York Rangers invited him to a training camp on September 8, 2010. Tessier then played for the AHL sister team of the Rangers, the Hartford Wolf Pack . There he signed a one-year contract.

Tessier ended his first professional season in the AHL as the second best rookie scorer with 10 goals and 28 points. On July 6, 2011, he signed another one-year contract with the Connecticut Whale . Tessier repeated his performance from last year and scored 30 points in 75 games. In the 2012 Calder Cup playoffs, Tessier scored 5 points - the third best of his team.

On September 17, 2012, he signed another one-year contract with the Connecticut Whale. After a slow start to the 2012/13 AHL season , Tessier scored 11 goals and 13 assists in 71 games.

After three years with the Whale, Tessier decided to sign another one-year contract, which had now been renamed Hartford Wolf Pack . On July 15, 2013, however, he moved to the Swedish second division club Rögle BK and signed a one-year contract there. Tessier was poached by the sports director Anders Carlsson , as this drafted him during his tenure with the Colorado Avalanche .

In the 2013/14 season Tessier developed into one of the strongest attacking players. In 52 games, he posted 42 points, leading the scorer classification of his club and finishing sixth in the overall classification. With ambitions to play at a higher level, Tessier switched to the Finnish first division club , Vaasan Sport . Tessier played 5 games without a single point before moving back to the Allsvenskan for Karlskrona HK for the remainder of the season.

On July 14, 2015 Tessier signed a one-year contract again with the Swedish newly promoted Rögle BK . In the 2015/16 season Tessier became one of the worse players and after 10 games moved to the second division club IF Björklöven .

The following summer Tessier moved to the Vienna Capitals in the EBEL and signed a one-year contract with an option for another year.
