Keşan ( Bulgarian Кешан , Greek Κεσσάνη , in Byzantine times Kissos) is a district town in the Turkish province of Edirne . It is not far from the Greek-Turkish border in Thrace , at the intersection of the Edirne - Gelibolu (E87) and Istanbul - Alexandroupoli (E84) roads .
Keşan is located about 95 km south of Edirne and is home to three quarters (2018: 74.98%) of the district's population.

The county is the second largest in the province in terms of area and also has the second highest population. It is located in the southeast of the province and borders on Enez County in the west, İpsala County in the northwest and Uzunköprü County in the north . In the east, the provinces of Tekirdağ (northern) and Çanakkale (southern) form the border.
The population density of Keşan County is above the provincial average of 67 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The eastern side of Keşan, in the direction of Malkara and Şarköy , is characterized by a hilly and rough landscape, while in the area of the Meriç River Plain ( Evros in Greek ) kilometer-long rice fields extend.
From an administrative point of view, the district is divided into the district town and two other municipalities ( Belediye ): Beğendik (4,050) and Yenimuhacir (2,096 inh .). 45 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 333 inhabitants per village complete the district. The largest village is Türkmen with 1,004 inhabitants.
