License Plate in Sierra Leone are from the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority on the basis of the Road Traffic Act, Section 2, paragraph 4 of the 2007 award.

Standard license plate

In the standard version for private cars, the license plates are uniform throughout the country in white with black lettering and a black frame. They are to be attached to the front and rear of cars in the same size, to motorcycles and trailers only to the rear. The standard license plates for trucks are uniform throughout the country in white with red letters and a red frame.

All white standard license plates with black or red letters and black or red borders begin with the national flag of Sierra Leone - the latest models always with the abbreviation SL (Sierra Leone) under the flag - followed by three letters and three digits. The registration office of vehicles can be clearly identified by specifying a two-digit letter code above the statement PR (private vehicles) or COM (commercial vehicles) at the end of the license plate.

Diplomatic plates

Vehicles of diplomatic missions receive light blue license plates with white letters. These show from left to right the national flag of Sierra Leone, followed by two digits and three letters.
