Structure of diplomatic license plates

Moroccan license plates largely correspond in size and appearance to the European license plates and usually show black letters on a white background. Since the year 2000 the sign has started with a maximum five-digit number followed by a vertical line, followed by an Arabic letter before another vertical line. Finally, a one or two-digit number indicates the exact origin of the vehicle. In the case of two-line signs, the letter and the code of origin are in the top line and the consecutive number below. Older license plates only show digits according to the pattern 1234-56 | 7. Newer signs show on the left the national territory including the Western Sahara claimed by Morocco.

Moroccan diplomatic plates have a yellow background and show the letters CD and the country name in French ( MAROC ) on the left edge . The right margin shows the same information in Arabic script. Between these two blocks there are two number blocks, the latter indicating the country of origin.
