Kiel is a district in the Bärbroich district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The name Kiel is recorded in the original cadastre as "Aufm Kiel" . It is an early modern settlement. The farm , which was previously located in the municipality of Immekeppel , had developed into a small hamlet with three farms and 19 residents by 1905 . The name of the settlement Kiel is explained by the New High German word wedge and means a wedge-shaped field or parcel .
