Killroy Media ( spelling KILLROY media  ) is a small German publisher in Ludwigsburg in Baden-Württemberg, which has been publishing primarily contemporary German-language literature since 1995 . Part of the publishing program is assigned to the literary underground .

History and program

Since it was founded in 1995, the publishing activities have been largely led by the author, action and performance artist ("Yussuf M") and publisher Michael Schönauer , who is also the sole owner of the publisher , which operates in the legal form of a sole proprietorship . Before that, from 1984 to 1994 Schönauer had self-published the alternative literary magazine einblick - Das Magazin für Literatur und Kunst , which was dedicated to promoting literature in the 1990s and the last issues of which were published by Killroy Media until the magazine was discontinued in 1995 . Schönauer was also one of the pioneers of the Social Beat in 1993/1994 , played a key role in several nationwide literary festivals of the Social Beat scene and the slam poetry movement that was developing in parallel, and became one of the leading protagonists of the left-wing alternative literary scene of the 1990s Years. In addition, from 1994/1995 to 2003, Schönauer was managing director of the Asperger Autorwerkstatt e. V. in Asperg near Stuttgart , where Killroy Media was founded in 1995 as part of a new series of publications .

The publisher's name KILLROY media  ® has meanwhile been protected by the publisher as a word mark . The publishing house was based in Asperg from 1995 to 2013 and then moved to the neighboring district town of Ludwigsburg. There he settled in the Eglosheim district to the northwest of the core city of Ludwigsburg .

Authors and books

Numerous first works by German authors were published by the Killroy Media publishing house . The publisher's authors include a. Bernd Fischle , Kersten Flenter , Laabs Kowalski , Björn Ludwig , Yo Rühmer , Frank Salewski , Philipp Schiemann and Christian Wolter , as well as the publisher Michael Schönauer himself.
