Career
Kim Staelens is the daughter of coach Jean-Pierre Staelens . Her sister Chaïne is also a professional volleyball player. Kim Staelens started her career in the Belgian league and played in Wervik and Wevelgem . She later followed her sister to the Netherlands. Since her mother is Dutch, she accepted citizenship . In the neighboring country she first played for Bonduelle VVC Vught . In 1999 she won the Dutch championship and the cup with VC Weert . The setter then went to France, where she was not happy either in Marcq-en-Barœul or at USSPA Albi . She later moved to Italy, where she also played in the Champions League with Perugia and Asystel Novara . She gave birth to a daughter in September and was on hiatus because of the family. In 2011/12 she played again in the Bundesliga at VT Aurubis Hamburg , where she was trained by her father. In 2012 Kim Staelens moved to Impel Gwardia Wrocław in Poland .
Staelens took part in the European Junior Championships in Poland in 1999 and was named the best setter of the tournament.
