Building description

The hall church is essentially a Romanesque church with a retracted choir and a semicircular apse with an apse dome . The choir tower was only built in the middle of the 13th century by adding additional floors . The old gable in the east of the nave is visible inside the tower. On the east, south and north sides of the top floor of the tower there are triforias with display boards on the trapezoidal capitals and chalice block capitals . Above it is a slate-clad timber-framed attachment with a curved hood . In 1592 the windows were enlarged, as indicated on the south side. Single-storey galleries were built on the north and west sides in 1691 . The gallery in the south was removed between 1961 and 1963. In 1901 the church floor was lowered and the pulpit altar torn down. The last redesign took place in 1992. The interior has been redesigned. In addition, the ceilings in the nave and choir were divided into fields.

Furnishing

Under the renewed triumphal arch there is a crucifixion group from a Vogtland workshop from the middle of the 17th century, stylistically related to the figures on the former altar of the town church in Weida . The crucifix from the 17th century comes from the same provincial carver as the crucifix in the church of Großebersdorf . In the choir there are two small, wooden angels from the 18th century. Partly fragmented gravestones from the 1st half of the 17th century as well as a large alabaster epitaph for Anna Margareta von Carlowitz framed by twisted columns , cartilage , cartouches with inscriptions , angels and coats of arms . The organ with nine registers , divided into a manual and a pedal , was built by Adam Eifert around 1900 .
