description

The oldest part of the church is the defense tower . This choir tower with corner stones , otherwise plastered, has a pointed, stone, eight-sided pyramid roof from the year 1594. The church tower provided defensive possibilities on all sides. The parapet was converted to the top floor of the tower around 1600 . The belfry is located behind the four arched sound arcades . Here three chilled cast iron bells hang on cranked bell yokes with clappers and counter pendulums . They were cast in Morgenröthe diamond wreath by Schilling & Lattermann and sound in the striking notes as ′ c ′ es ″. The current rectangular nave was added between 1768 and 1770; the west entrance shows a corresponding date. On a corner cuboid in the southeast corner there is a male portrait who is holding a coat of arms with a stonemason's mark in his hands . The sacristy is located on the southwest side and is covered with a barrel vault. The interior of the nave has two double-storey galleries on the north-west and south-west sides each resting on square pillars . The triumphal arch that leads to the choir under the tower is round-arched. In the choir there is a small late Gothic tabernacle , which is crowned by a keel arch with a relief . During the renovation in 1994, old wall paintings were discovered in the choir . On the north side there is a parish stand with three pilasters and ornaments from the Rococo . The organ , built in 1775, is adorned with tuba angels and other rococo ornaments. The pulpit is designed in the same way. The wooden Pietà did not return from Eisenach to the Ritschenhausen church until 1962. It originally belonged to the pilgrimage church of Grimmenthal .
