description

As early as 1500, a church in Weischwitz is mentioned in several documents and listed as a branch church of the Obernitz church . The Romanesque hall church was baroque in 1792 . The nave was given a slate-covered mansard roof and an eight-sided roof tower was built over the retracted choir , with two church bells hanging in the bell chamber.

The interior has two-storey galleries , the parapets of which are made of balusters , and is covered with a flat ceiling. The area of the choir still has the medieval pointed arch barrel vault . The plait style pulpit above the altar on the east wall is equipped with a pulpit clock . From the first church a baptismal font from 1659 has been preserved, as well as the corresponding baptismal jug. The organ from the 18th century has five registers , divided between a manual and the pedal . It was built by an unknown organ builder and restored by Friedrich Peter in 2013.
