Jantke finished his school years in 1970 with the Abitur in the special class for mathematics at the Humboldt University in Berlin .
He completed his mathematics studies at Humboldt University with a diploma in mathematics and theoretical computer science . In 1976 he received the Karl Weierstraß Prize for his diploma thesis .
In 1979 he received his doctorate with Helmut Thiele in the field of computer science with a focus on artificial intelligence on the subject of performance and complexity of universal procedures for recognizing general recursive functions with summa cum laude . Jantke received the Humboldt Prize from the Humboldt University in Berlin for his dissertation.
Employment
20th century
Jantke's post-doctoral thesis in 1984 had the topic A general access to problems of inductive inference . From 1985 to 1987 Jantke worked as the deputy director of the computer center at Humboldt University. He has been a lecturer since 1985. In 1987, at the age of 35, he was appointed Full Professor of Theoretical Computer Science and Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence at the Technical University of Leipzig .
From 1996 Jantke was Researcher ( SERC Research Fellow) at the University of Stirling in Scotland , visiting professor at the International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley California and at the Fujitsu Research Labs in Numazu , Japan , Professor at the University of Kuwait and Foundation Professor of Hitachi Software at the University of Hokkaidō , Sapporo , Japan.
Jantke taught at universities in Berlin, Chemnitz , Cottbus , Darmstadt , Erfurt , Ilmenau , Leipzig and Saarbrücken . He was involved in leading projects of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research , the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy , the German Research Foundation , NATO and the Donors' Association for German Science . He managed cooperation projects with industrial companies and banks with individual project volumes of up to 10 million euros.
Since 1998 he has been a “Specially Appointed Professor” at the Faculty of Engineering at Hokkaidō University , Sapporo , Japan.
Jantke worked on Final Algebra Semantics , non-monotonic and inductive logic, term rewriting systems , reactive planning, information security , e-learning , machine learning , artificial intelligence , gamification and computer games .
Since the end of 1998 Jantke has been Principal Researcher at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and led projects in the fields of IT security, machine learning and e-learning. He also worked in teaching at the Universities of Darmstadt and Saarbrücken.
21st century
At the beginning of the 21st century, Jantke set up the competence center for e-learning at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), of which he became the first director.
In 2006, Jantke became Germany's first professor of computer games.
From 2005 to 2007 Jantke worked at the Technical University of Ilmenau, Research Institute for Information Technologies.
From 2005 to 2007 Jantke was head of the multimedia applications department at the Institute for Media and Communication Studies at the Technical University of Ilmenau . There he built up teaching and research in the field of digital games. He introduced the Ilmenau taxonomy for digital games with his own pattern terms and the Jostle and Gorge games, which are tailored to research. At the same time he taught on digital games at the universities in Darmstadt , Leipzig and Ilmenau.
At conferences in the USA Jantke gave keynote speeches on topics such as "Games That Do Not Exist" and "When the True Criminal Gets Virtual, the Virtual Crime Gets Real".
In 2008 Jantke set up the children's media department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology . Jantke founded the first German Games Master Class in Leipzig in 2007 and became its director. Since 2008 it has been taking place in Erfurt in the summer and winter semesters.
In 2016, Jantke was a member of the Interdisciplinary Center of E-Humanities in History and Social Sciences (ICE) at the University of Erfurt .
From 2008 to 2016 Jantke was head of the children's media department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology (IDMT). Since 2016 he has been responsible for research and development at ADICOM ( Chief Scientific Officer ).
For the period 2019-2021, Jantke has been appointed as a consultant to the Sino-German Industrial Design Center for the development of Sino-German economic cooperation.
