Konrad Frühwald (politician, 1890)

Konrad Frühwald (born June 5, 1890 in Roßbach , Middle Franconia , † April 19, 1970 in Neustadt an der Aisch ) was a German politician ( DNVP , FDP ). He was called the "farmer philosopher".

Life and work

Frühwald was a farmer by profession and took over his parents' farm in 1919. In the same year he became President of the Bavarian Land Association . From 1930 to 1933 he was President of the District Chamber of Farmers in Middle Franconia . During the National Socialism he went into "inner emigration" and lived as a traveling shepherd in Franconia . From 1945 to 1967 he was Vice President of the Bavarian Farmers' Association . He was also involved in the Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria .

Frühwald was married to a daughter of the former Bavarian member of the state parliament Luitpold Weilnböck (DNVP). His son Konrad junior was a member of the Bavarian state parliament for the Bavarian party and later for the CSU .

Political party

Frühwald had been a member of the DNVP since 1919, but rejected Alfred Hugenberg's course and cooperation with the NSDAP . After the Second World War he was one of the founders of the FDP Bavaria .

Frühwald was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1928 to 1933 .

In 1947 he became a member of the Bavarian Senate and was a member of it until 1969. He was in the German Bundestag from 1949 to 1957, and since 1953 he has been the spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group for agricultural policy.
