Konrad Heidkamp (journalist)

Konrad Heidkamp (born August 5, 1947 in Munich ; † January 11, 2009 in Hamburg ) was a German journalist , music and literary critic and author.

Heidkamp studied German , political science and history . He initially worked as a high school teacher in Munich and Berlin and occasionally wrote for the taz . Since 1988 he has written music reviews for Die Zeit ; he also wrote jazz features for NDR . In the opinion of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , when writing his reviews he was “always of the opinion that music can be heard without seeing the musician behind it; but if you want to understand it, you should also look at the musician ”. Since 1999 he has been the editor of Die Zeit for the children's and youth book page. The Lynx , Child and Youth Book Prize of time and Radio Bremen , won under Heidkamps aegis importance and prestige beyond the professional world. He was also a member of the Hessischer Rundfunk audio book jury .

Heidkamp also published the jazz anthologies In the Mood and collected his texts in the book It's all over now - 40 years of rock and jazz . In his book Sophisticated Ladies - Young Women over 50 , he brought together portraits of musicians and actresses from Laurie Anderson to Jane Birkin and Carla Bley to Yoko Ono .

His father was the national soccer player Conny Heidkamp .
