Konstantinos Laifis ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος Λαΐφης Konstandínos Laΐfis , born May 19, 1993 in Paralimni , Cyprus) is a Cypriot football player .

The defender currently plays for the Belgian first division Standard Liège . He is a member of the current squad of the Cypriot national football team .

Career

As a teenager, Laifis played for two years at the English club Nottingham Forest , but then returned to Cyprus to Anorthosis Famagusta . His professional career began there in 2013.

At the beginning he was loaned to the Cypriot club Alki Larnaka . After the end of this loan after six months, he played for Anorthosis Famagusta himself.

In the summer of 2016 he moved to the Greek club Olympiacos Piraeus . From there he was immediately loaned to the Belgian club Standard Liège . After two years, Laifis finally moved to the Standard Liège squad. On July 21, 2019, an extension of his contract until 2022 became known.

National team

From the U17 team , he played in several junior selections and then in the senior national team of Cyprus. In the absence of their qualifications, there have not yet been any appearances at European and World Championships.
