William Balikwisha (born May 12, 1999 ) is a Belgian - Congolese football player . The striker is currently under contract with Standard Liège .

Career

In his youth Balikwisha first played in the youth teams of RSC Anderlecht . At the age of 14 he moved to Standard Liège and received further funding from the association's training center, the Académie Robert Louis-Dreyfus .

In the 2017/18 season he was a member of Standard's reserve team. On August 2, 2018, the club signed a professional contract with him, which was extended on July 19, 2019.

In his first professional season, Balikwisha played five games, but none of the full duration.

For the 2019/20 season he was loaned to Cercle Bruges without an option to buy . There Balikwisha only played three games in September 2019.

It was agreed that this loan would end in mid-January 2020. Instead, he was loaned to the Dutch club MVV Maastricht , which plays in the Eerste Divisie , the second highest Dutch league, until the end of the season . There he was on the pitch in all seven league games until the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

In the new 2020/21 season, Balikwisha is back in the Standard Liège squad.
