Merveille Bokadi (born May 21, 1996 in Kinshasa ) is a Congolese football player who plays for the Belgian first division Standard Liège .

societies

After playing in TP Mazembe's youth teams , he made his first professional appearances there until January 2017.

At that time he was loaned to the Belgian club Standard Liège for half a year . In the summer of 2017, Standard decided to sign him permanently.

Due to a torn cruciate ligament, Bokadi was unable to play from October 2017 to January 2019. In the cup game against Lommel SK on September 26, 2019, he injured his cruciate ligament again, so that another injury break between six months and a year is expected. He did not play another game until the end of the 2019/20 season.

National team

Bokadi had his first international match for the Congo on March 26, 2016 in the qualifying game for the Africa Cup against Angola . At the Africa Cup of 2017 itself, he was used in all four games of the Congo until they were eliminated in the quarter-finals .

After further appearances in qualifying games for the 2019 Africa Cup and the 2018 World Cup , his injury also meant an international break. On March 24, 2019 he was back in the squad of the Congolese national team.

At the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations , he played in two of three group matches and in the round of 16, which was lost on penalties against Madagascar.
