Samuel Bastien (born September 26, 1996 in Meux, municipality of La Bruyère ) is a Belgian football player .

Career

Bastien was trained among others in the youth of Standard Liège and RSC Anderlecht , in 2014 he made the leap into the professional squad of RSC Anderlecht and made his debut there on December 3, 2014 in the Belgian Cup against KRC Mechelen , when he was in the 79th minute for Youri Tielemans was substituted on. At the end of August 2015 he was loaned to US Avellino 1912 and gained his first significant experience in professional football with 31 appearances in the Italian Serie B. He scored his two goals in a 3-3 win against Brescia Calcio and a 2-1 win against AC Cesena .

On August 26, Bastien finally moved to the Italian first division club Chievo Verona for the amount of 2.5 million euros , where he made his first appearance against AS Roma on December 22, 2016 ; the game was lost 3-1.

Belgian cup winner Standard Liège secured the services of the midfielder in June 2018 for a transfer fee of 3 million euros .

National team

He was used twice for the Belgian U-19s , while he has played ten times for the U-21s and was able to score one goal. After the U-21 European Championship in 2019 , he exceeded the age limit for the U 21.
